Guild President Janet Hudachek has been busy investigating the possibility of providing the Guild with building space. And Janet made a connection with a downtown Menomonee Falls landlord who just so happens to have such a building that he’s willing to temporarily lease (March through September 2012) to the Guild for a discounted price while it’s vacant!

Many of us took Janet up on her email invitation to walk through the building today and it is magnificent! The opportunity of the Guild having its own gallery and workshop space is exciting. Please browse the photo gallery below to check out the space.

The space is located on the southwest corner of Main and Grand Street in downtown Menomonee Falls—a fitting location for our local group and within walking distance of other art establishments like Purloin Studio and Mill Street Folkart Gallery.

Formerly home to Optimum Nutrition, the space measures 2300 square feet and allows for about 270 linear feet of rentable artist space. Currently, 8 Guild members have voiced interest in renting and the Guild has posted ads with Milwaukee Artist Resource Network and Wisconsin Visual Artists to entice new renters. Renters will have to join the Guild in order to show in the new building. Rental price currently under consideration is $8.00/linear foot/month.

Having building space is a wonderful chance for the Guild not only to have a physical—and very visible—presence in the community through art exhibits, but to hold classes, meetings, open art nights, etc. We are hoping to have a lively discussion at the Guild’s next membership meeting at 6:00pm on Tuesday, February 24th at Menomonee Falls Public Library. If you have questions before then, please email President Janet Hudachek.

NEW YORK, NY, October 21, 2011 — Art Guild of Menomonee Falls has been selected for the 2011 Best of Menomonee Falls Award in the Artists category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).

The USCA “Best of Local Business” Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2011 USCA Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.

U.S. Commerce Association (USCA) is a New York City based organization funded by local businesses operating in towns, large and small, across America. The purpose of USCA is to promote local business through public relations, marketing and advertising.

The USCA was established to recognize the best of local businesses in their community. Our organization works exclusively with local business owners, trade groups, professional associations, chambers of commerce and other business advertising and marketing groups. The museum campus is now transformed by a grove of holiday trees that have been sculpted with inspiration and imagination from a range of traditional and modern media by local artists.

Gregory’s interpretation of an HD holiday tree is located in the skywalk between the Museum and the Archives/Restoration area.

The artists were selected through a jury process in mid-September. Harley-Davidson’s Frank Savage and Melvina Kleverova Zilliox and Milwaukee Artist Resource Network’s Melissa Musante juried the proposals to determine seven final invitations for HD’s 1st Annual Blazin’ Yule Sculpture Project. The participating artists are Carrie Chimenti (Milwaukee), Tammy Easton (Racine), Qaiyim El-Amin (Milwaukee), Gregory Juris (Germantown), John Kowalczyk (Milwaukee), Brady Lueck (Burlington) and Kendall Polster (Milwaukee).

Holiday revelers can vote for their favorite holiday tree along the Holiday Sculpture Walk as well as make a bid to support Milwaukee’s Arts@Large. Arts@Large provides multidisciplinary art experiences for Milwaukee K-12 students. A silent auction for each sculpture will take place throughout the exhibition with proceeds being split between the artist and Arts @ Large.

Our own Mary Boettcher will be exhibiting alongside Wisconsin artist, Jean Crane, who is noted for her beautifully executed watercolor paintings. Crane’s original artworks depict flowers carefully composed in graceful still-lives or dramatically described in their natural abandon. A collection of Crane’s work is presented in this exhibit along with paintings created by some of her artist students or “friends,” one of which is AGMF’s Mary Boettcher. Students of Jean Crane are all accomplished artists in their own right.
