Polymer clay artist, Laura Fesser, spoke to our group at our February meeting—which happened on March 1, 2022 due to the ice storm the week before. Laura’s adventurous approach to art led her to try new medium, polymer clay. She jokingly admits she “has creative ADD” and needs to explore new creative processes to switch things up. She’s found polymer clay to be fascinating.
Laura discussed the process of conditioning the clay. She also shared many of the everyday tools she used—including a pasta roller! It was truly amazing to see how Laura could envision a shape and create it and add such detail.
Laura’s portfolio includes beautiful pieces of jewelry, wall hangings, ornaments, and decorative boxes. She was one of the local artists turn 10-ft guitars into unique works of art for the 2013 Waukesha GuitarTown Project commemorating Waukesha native Les Paul. Her work is currently on display at the Art Lounge.
