We had 6 amazing Menomonee Falls High School seniors apply for our annual college scholarship. They all were deserving; with their pasts and future goals offering a lot of diversity.
Standing Scholarship Committee member from the start, Pete Zielinski, was joined by newcomers Elaine Zale and Lia Scherwinski, offering a great blend of ages and backgrounds for making this decision together. Pete mentioned, “It was interesting to see how different our choices were.”
Each read the applications on their own and rated their winners, #1 through #6. Pete then added the #’s each had given each student. If all had chosen the same person as #1, that student would have scored (3). Therefore the lowest #’s win.
Pete will make the formal presentation to the winners at the upcoming high school’s Scholarship Awards Night. Both winners will receive $250 upon completion of their 1st semester of college.
Depending on our fund raising this year, the Guild could consider raising the scholarship amount or adding a 3rd recipient. The Scholarship Committee is looking to add members to help in the selection process in next year.
It is truly a wonderful feeling to work on this committee. I highly recommend joining us in future choices.
Guild member an Falls Art teacher Terra Cheimelwski will be announcing our recipients at scholarship night.
