Confessions of a glass addict

Laura Dawson dazzled us with her glasswork at our November 22, 2022 meeting.

Laura started her journey with glass making simple sun catchers. From there, she began fusing glass and bought a kiln. Laura works out of her house, she does not own a separate studio space. Her husband chuckled that Laura’s taken over the basement between her home studio and now, 3 kilns!

Laura’s favorite subject matter is cats and also dabbles in jewelry and watercolors, but glass is her true passion and love— stained glass, glass bead making, glass mosaics, and kiln-formed (fused) glass. A portion of her sales is donated to support animal rescues throughout Wisconsin and the U.S.

Laura’s work can be seen at the Museum of Wisconsin Artists (MOWA) Members Show on display December 10, 2022 through January 22, 2023.

Members were curious about the different brands and finishes of fusing glasses Laura works with, firing processes and times and are mentioned planning to get involved in a glass workshop! Laura’s enthusiasm for her medium definitely inspired us!
