Mary Boettcher treated us to a mini session on Zentangles at our January 2019 membership meeting. Mary incorporates these patterns, or “tangles”, into much of her artwork. Mary traveled to Rhode Island to become certified in the Zentangle method. We followed Mary’s direction to complete one string on a provided white paper tile with a Micron marker and pencil for shading. We put together our tiles when finished, as intended, to create a mosaic. Zentangle methodology teaches that there are no mistakes and promotes a sense of calm through its structured patterns and unplanned focus.
